Operations and product range expand
1972 - 1998
At the beginning of the 1970s, the production of PVC drain pipes was started up. In addition, cable sets were produced for Saab Scania. As the decade unfolded, the production of cable sets was expanded, and wire sets were also produced for the car industry. In 1986, a wire set factory was established at Tervakoski, and, in 1993 wire set production was started up at Vyborg in Russia. In 1992, a separate company was set up for this function, Reka Harnesses Oy, which was sold in 1997.
The plastics plant at Hyvinkää was burned down in 1972, and a new one was built in 1973. Production of installation cable and smaller cables was transferred from Hyvinkää to Keuruu, where a suitable ready hall was found for cable production. In 1984, this building was expanded and the layout became more streamlined. These days, the plant manufactures installation wires and cables and instrumentation cables.
The drawing of copper wire began at Hyvinkää in 1977. Once the ‘sub-plant’ was completed in 1988, the drawing of aluminium wire was also introduced.
The first ever export delivery went to Iceland in 1972.
